The Turquoise Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia lacustris) is a stunning addition to any freshwater aquarium, renowned for its vibrant coloration and lively demeanor. Originating from the pristine waters of Lake Kutubu in Papua New Guinea, this fish boasts a mesmerizing turquoise hue that shimmers under aquarium lighting. Adult males, in particular, display a striking iridescence that can shift between shades of blue, green, and silver, depending on their mood and environment. Growing up to 4 inches in length, Turquoise Rainbowfish are not only beautiful but also hardy, making them suitable for both novice and experienced aquarists.
These schooling fish thrive in groups of six or more, creating a dynamic and visually appealing display as they dart and weave through the water. Known for their peaceful nature, Turquoise Rainbowfish are compatible with a wide range of other community fish, provided there are no aggressive or overly large tank mates.
We feed them a large variety of foods which include finely ground Northfin flake foods, small Northfin pellets (veggie, community, & bug pro), frozen foods.
Please Note: All fish shipments have a 100% Live Arrival Guarantee when shipping with Overnight (1 Day) option. All other options void our Live Arrival Guarantee for fish.
