The Sparkling Gourami (also known as the Pygmy Gourami) is an absolute stunning addition to any nano fish tank. The Sparkling Gourami is an extremely peaceful and timid fish. They display colors of gold, red, blue and green. Under the right lighting, they really display some amazing colors. The prefer shaded tanks as they are originally found from rice patties in Cambodia and Thailand.

The Sparkling Gourami will reach a max length of 1.5 inches. They are accustom to shallow water with lots of vegetation. They prefer a planted aquarium with plenty of hiding spots. 

The scientific name for Sparkling Gouramis is Trichopsis pumilus.

We feed our Sparkling Gouramis a mix of frozen daphnia, baby brine and cyclops. We also supplement their diet with a mix of Northfin Veggie and Community.

Tank Recommendations

  • Leaves: Indian Almond or Guava
  • Wood: Malaysian or Mopani
  • Cones: Alder Cones
  • Other: A buffered substrate as they prefer soft acidic water

Nice fish

These guys looked a little rough when they first arrived. Some tailfin damage, not much coloration and while well fed they seemed a little shipping stressed so I decided to wait before doing a review. After a week they were looking better, finnage was growing back and they were beginning to show some color. Now after two weeks tailfins have grown back and the coloration is excellent. Over all these are great little fish.

Fish all arrived healthy, one did have a potential issue on the tail fin, but nothing one round of antibiotics couldnt fish. Beautiful fish. The only reason I gave 4 stars is there was a random mystery fish that arrived with my sparkling gourami that I had to figure out placement for. I didnt ask for the little guy lol. Thanks for the high quality fish and well packaged shipping.
