- Nano Fish
The Siamese Algae Eater or Crossocheilus oblongus is a unique fish to add to your aquarium due to its very active habits and unmatched love of various aquarium algae, including but not limited to black beard algae. It is recommended that these fish be kept in a group of at least 5 to 6, when adult size to spread out aggression.
These fish are a great beginner fish due to its acceptance of a wide variety of water parameters and ability to handle lower temperatures. It is not uncommon for these fish to jump so a tank with a lid is highly recommended.
The Siamese Algae Eater can reach a max size of 7 inches and is a great community fish in a well established tank with peaceful fish. And is plant safe. It should be kept in slightly larger tanks size of 40 gallons or more.
The Siamese Algae Eater consumes many natural food sources but will accept prepared foods with lots of vegetable matter such as kelp wafers. It is good practice to provide fresh cut vegetables such as cucumber and zucchini.

Got these guys to help me clean up some hair algae. They showed up as healthy as can be and hit their job running!! Super pleased.
Awesome experience as always, i love the way they perfectly package the live fish…they even add a little heat pouch if they know its going somewhere cold. I recieved my SAE and he was spunky and ready to get to work. He arrived very healthy, picture perfect and fit right in witht he rest of my babies!
Always provides extras when ordering large quantities which I highly appreciate. Even if a fishie doesn't make it through shipping, which is rare, there are extras to ensure you get what you paid for. Great experience every time I've ordered from them (5ish times).
When I first learned about these fish I thought they were not very interesting. However, I lately have been battling algea and I was tired of having to remove a lot of it (I know I can control it by changing water/lighting etc). I have some fluval plant lights which work really good as my plants are growing nice, but algea grows really good too... So I decided to get 6 of these fish... Ohh boy I was so impressed, these fish are bullet fast, they kicked up all of the debris that was sitting on my substrate, therefore, they made my filter more efficient. Now my tank is looking spotless (no algea or debris in sight) would totally recommend these fish!
All alive and well 1 week later. Thank you!
