The Siamese Algae Eater or Crossocheilus oblongus is a unique fish to add to your aquarium due to its very active habits and unmatched love of various aquarium algae, including but not limited to black beard algae. It is recommended that these fish be kept in a group of at least 5 to 6, when adult size to spread out aggression.
These fish are a great beginner fish due to its acceptance of a wide variety of water parameters and ability to handle lower temperatures. It is not uncommon for these fish to jump so a tank with a lid is highly recommended.
The Siamese Algae Eater can reach a max size of 7 inches and is a great community fish in a well established tank with peaceful fish. And is plant safe. It should be kept in slightly larger tanks size of 40 gallons or more.
The Siamese Algae Eater consumes many natural food sources but will accept prepared foods with lots of vegetable matter such as kelp wafers. It is good practice to provide fresh cut vegetables such as cucumber and zucchini.

All alive and well 1 week later. Thank you!
All of these little guys arrived live and healthy. Plus the snails are doing great as well. Great company, great product, great customer service. I couldn't be happier
They have packed my fish very well and there were 0 DOA. I even got a friendly note from the one who packed. My siamese algae eaters were very shy but they are now getting used to their tankmates. They are also very interesting fish and very curious about going everywhere in my tank.
I have had them for awhile now and they are doing well.
Ordered 5 of these and they were shipped within a few business days. Packaging was impressive including lots of insulation, padding, and a heat pad. All five fish arrived healthy and are thriving in my tank.
