Panda Garra (Garra flavatra) is a unique tropical fish that can be added to a wide variety of aquariums. This fish is unique in its variation of light and dark colored bands similar to a panda. This fish can be housed with a wide variety of tank mates especially nano and non-aggressive species. Their tank should have high flow or highly oxygenated water, ideally with a matten filter or power-head in the tank to replicate its natural environment.
This fish is a peaceful omnivorous species of sucker-mouth cat that mostly feeds on bio-film, however, it can be fed a high quality frozen food such as baby brine shrimp and will readily accept it. This fish will max out around 3 inches in size.
We feed our panda garra with algae based foods such as Northfin kelp wafers, and bio-film additive Bacter A.E.. We also feed frozen baby brine shrimp to enhance their diet. Avoid adding too many tannins in the water as it can hinder the growth of bio-films and algae beneficial to this fish.
