Lambchop Rasboras and Glowlight Rasboras are VERY closely related and can look extremely similar, which is why you'll sometimes see the common names used interchangeably in the aquarium hobby. They are, however, two different species.
One of the easiest ways to tell them apart is by looking at their color and the dark marking on the side of the body. Lambchop Rasboras generally develop more orange to reddish coloration across the body and have a larger, more noticeable lambchop shaped black marking.
Glowlight Rasboras tend to have a more slim dark marking with a bright orangeish or coppery color.Their overall body can also appear a little more translucent compared with a well colored Lambchop Rasbora.
It can still be tricky! Color can vary depending on age, stress, lighting, diet, and how recently the fish were shipped. Younger fish especially may not show the differences as clearly.
Because these fish are so closely related, you'll sometimes see them mislabeled or their common names mixed together by breeders, importers, and aquarium stores.
