Half Black Leopard Guppy

The guppy or Poecilia reticulata is a true classic in any aquarium, and many hobby aquarists often start out with guppies because of how easy they are to care for, and how easy they are to breed. The Half-Black Leopard Guppy isn't any different in this perspective, and its unique appearance makes it a real sight to see.

For whom is the Half-Black Leopard Guppy suited?

Like most other guppies, the Half-Black Leopard Guppy is easy to care for and is entirely suitable for beginner aquarists. Especially if you'd like to give breeding a try, the guppy is the perfect fish, and having an aquarium filled with little Leopard Guppies will certainly create a unique aesthetic.

What are they like?

The Half-Black Leopard Guppy is a very social fish and can easily co-exist with a large variety of other fish, invertebrates and aquarium snails. As mentioned before, these fish love to procreate, and so if you don't want to have an aquarium filled with these beautiful little fish, we suggest either introducing a natural predator to keep the population in check, or to only hold male guppies.

The ideal conditions for the Half-Black Leopard Guppy

Guppies thrive in planted tanks low to moderate flowing water. As livebearers they do well in mixed sexed groups although they will eat their young if given the chance. Be sure to provide areas of cover for offspring using floating plants, botanicals such as Indian Almond leaves and rock or wood structures.

Please Note: All fish shipments have a 100% Live Arrival Guarantee when shipping with Overnight (1 Day) option. All other options void our Live Arrival Guarantee for fish.

What we feed Guppies

Guppies are natural omnivores and should be fed a varied diet through prepared, live, and frozen foods. We feed them with a mix live foods such as baby brine, Daphnia, Bloodworms, Blackworms, scuds, and also Northfin Veggie, Community, and Bug Pro prepared foods to ensure a balanced and nutritious diet.

The cutest little guppies and quite healthy

These guppies arrived healthy and ready for their new aquascaped home. Of the 3 pair, there are now 3 pregnant females in the tank. I can't wait for the first fry to make their appearance.
