L173b False Zebra Pleco | False Zebra Pleco

TheL173b False Zebra Pleco is one of those plecos that immediately catches your eye. These guys have a BOLD black and white patterning that gives them a stunning zebra look, but with a lot of variation between individuals. Some have more white, some have stronger striping, and some have really unique patterning that makes each fish feel a little different.

This line in particular traces back to Aquarium Glaser in Germany and has been maintained and selectively bred by our local breeder for increased white coverage, stronger contrast, and patterning that is reminiscent of true L173. Basically, if you are into unusual Hypancistrus plecos, these are seriously cool!

L173b False Zebra Plecos stay a manageable size and they appreciate plenty of hiding spots and caves. They are generally peaceful, but they may get territorial with other plecos, especially around caves or feeding areas.
