The Ember Tetra is an absolute stunning nano fish with very bold orange and hints of red for color. They truly stand out in a planted aquarium. It is important to provide hiding places for these fish as they can get stressed out. We recommend rock and driftwood to create caves and crevices.
The ember Tetra will reach sizes of about 1.25 inches. They are pretty peaceful although we would not recommend keeping them with shrimp. They prefer small live foods so baby shrimp would become an easy target.
The scientific name for the Ember Tetra is Hyphessobrycon amandae.
We feed our Ember Tetras a mix of frozen foods including daphnia, baby brine and cyclops. We occasionally feed them Northfin Veggie.
Our Tank Parameters
Gorgeous nano fish, smaller than neon tetras but lots of flame colors about the same behavior. They really pop in planted aquarium or one made to look natural. The bigger the school the more mesmerizing they are. Highly recommended to 20 gallon tanks and up. Start with at least 6-12 ember tetras if you have the space get more you won't regret it.
The fish are hardy and healthy! I love the way they look in plant life! Ordered ten got twelve!
I ordered 6 and received 7 and all survived shipping. Its been three days in my tank and the fish look great. They're young and probably half full grown, but they still have great color and are shoaling. My only issue is I haven't figured out their food yet. They don't react all that much to the flakes I have, and I got some frozen bloodworm and brine shrimp and I had similar results.
fish seem healthy and active!
