You will receive five (5) randomly selected Mystery Snails based on what we have available.
You will receive a minimum of two types from the list below:
Please note that no special requests for color is for sure. These snails will be completely random.
We use these beautiful snails to help keep our aquarium cycled as we add and take shrimp out of the tank to sell. They produce a fair amount of waste which helps keep beneficial bacteria. This bacteria is crucial for processing waste out of the water (also known as the nitrogen cycle).
One of the leading causes for beginner shrimp keepers to fail is overfeeding. Many hobbyists are use to feeding a lot and doing huge water changes. For shrimp, this is not the case. A smaller water change of 10% biweekly is more than enough for shrimp to thrive. Therefore, when the occasional overfeeding happens it can lead to raised ammonia level and in turn, dead shrimp.
Mystery snails have a large appetite and will gladly clean up any leftover food in an aquarium. They can actually breakdown food much quicker than shrimp through digestion. This is why we believe that snail poop is actually beneficial to a shrimp’s diet. Therefore, these snails are providing clean up and eventually natural food.
Mystery snails are from the genus Ampullariidae. They originate from South America and are extremely peaceful. In a shrimp tank, they are the gentile giant. The only downside to mystery snails is that their main diet in the wild is from feeding on dying vegetation. This means that mystery snails will not eat healthy plants. They will feed on dying plants or leaves that have fallen off the plant. These snails will thrive off of leaf matter. The snail feces is believed to be beneficial to shrimp and their overall health. There are over 120 species of snails with the Ampullariidae family.
Please note: During shipping, snails sometimes go into a hibernation-like state and may not become fully active for up to a week once acclimated to your aquarium.

I had nerite snails, which were great. But these mystery snails are so much fun to watch! I hit the jackpot on variety. I think I got 1 purple, 2 magenta, 1 jade, 1 gold, and 1 blue. The purple has since passed away, but all the others are healthy. They're so goofy. My Littles love watching them more than all my other livestock.
I ordered some snails at my daughter's request. We both were extremely satisfied with our order. I asked for variety and received exactly that. Everything was packaged well with a small bonus. Perfect performance! Thank you very much, Flip Aquatics.
Lovely these snails!!
I received 6 snails! A couple took a day to get moving, but 4 took off fast! They are all moving and grooving now. They are various colors. All healthy and eating everything. They are very entertaining. Lots of different colors. Ivory, yellow, blue? Stripy purple? lol
You could say that Flip Aquatics "snailed" it. The snails can't in their own bag so alive and well. My camera does not really do them justice, especially the color of their shells. The snails are lively, active and have done an amazing job in keeping the glass and tank looking good. The mulm in the bottom of the tank has been reduced significantly. Besides the cleanup they have done they are great additions to the aesthetic of the tank. The tank is planted and scaped with a garden theme... Besides the colors from the plants, terracotta pots, and substrate the only other color I have felt lead to have in there was blue (predominantly). And without knowing why if this Flips sent me five snails that matched this theme... Outside of the earthy tones the only other colors on their shells is a faint blue (comes out as green in the pictures)that does not come out in my pictures.
If this was baseball I would have to say they slugged the ball right or is the park.
