Otocinclus Catfish

The Otocinclus Catfish, also known as an Oto, is simply one of the best algae eating fish in the hobby. Reaching a max size around 2 inches, this fish is the ideal algae eater for any shrimp or planted aquarium. We have used this fish ever since we started in the hobby.

Please Note: All fish shipments have a 100% Live Arrival Guarantee when shipping with Overnight (1 Day) option. All other options void our Live Arrival Guarantee for fish.

Combine the Otocinclus with other algae eaters like nerite snails and amano shrimp, you will have an unstoppable cleaning crew to keep any planted aquarium looking great! We highly recommend this fish.

The scientific name for Otocinclus Catfish is Otocinclus huaorani.

We feed our Otocinclus a mix of Northfin Veggie and Community. Their main food is Northfin Kelp Wafers.

Amazing

I love these little guys. I waited 3 weeks or so to say anything because I’ve heard Oto cats can be sensitive during the acclimation period, but these fish seemed in great health when I received them and they are still doing great. They are extremely efficient algae eaters. My tank went from green to clear in 3 days. They are a cute and helpful addition to the tank.

Healthy and Hard at work

I have now had these little guys in quarantine for two days and they are appearing healthy and doing well. From the second I put them in the tank, after dripping, they were hard at work scouring the live plants, I put in with them, for algae. They have not as of yet taken any of the Rapashy I fed them, but may be finding what they need on the plants. I'll keep an eye on their bellies to make sure they stay round. But in any case I am completely happy with them and Flip Aquatics for sending healthy Ottos. Thanks to the Flip Aquatics team, in those immortal words "I'll Be Back".
