The Green Neon Tetra is a great fish from South America. It originates from streams throughout the jungle where the water is stained brown from all the fallen leaves and wood. These fish will thrive in black water conditions. Although, they are very hardy and will accept a wide range of parameters.
The Green Neon Tetra is identical to the Cardinal tetra but with green coloration. They are omnivores in nature and will accept a high quality flake diet or Northfin premium foods.
The scientific name for the Green Neon Tetra is Paracheirodon simulans.
We feed our Green Neon Tetras a mix of Northfin Community and Veggie. They also get an occasional treat of frozen foods such as daphnia, cyclopods and baby brine shrimp.

Our green neon tetras arrived today, and are in the quarantine tank. So tiny, and the colors are amazing! During the day, they were an aqua green, but in the evening they deepend to a sapphire with hints of purple! I ordered five, but received six. Thank you! So far they seem happy, healthy, and hungry! ❤️ The only downside to this transaction, was that my kid got to the Swedish fish candy before I did. 😉
I love these guys! I'm always skeptical about purchasing imported fish, but these guys arrived amazingly healthy and have doubled in size since I purchased them. I wish I could add a picture.
I'd never seen green neon tetras before learning about Flip Aquatics. I am very satisfied with the fish I received. They were very carefully packaged, and arrived safe, sound, and healthy. I find the green neons to be prettier than regular neon tetras. The red is more muted the neons, so it does not distract from the blue green iridescent color. They are a bit smaller than regular neons, and they school like teal sparks in the water. Once settled, they are quite brave for tetras, coming up to the glass when I get close to inquire when I will be serving breakfast. I absolutely love them.
Beautiful fish. Colored up as soon as I added them to the tank. All arrived alive and healthy. Ordered 20 received 24. Definitely will recommend Flip Aquatics to my fish keeping friends!
