Compatible Fish for Shrimp Tanks: Rasboras

The term 'Shrimp safe' isn't always a guarantee in the world of aquariums, so we prefer using the term 'compatible' when discussing fish and shrimp cohabitation. In their natural habitat, shrimp often serve as prey for many fish species, so there's always a degree of risk involved. However, certain fish species are less likely to disturb or harm your shrimp companions. If you're looking to enhance your shrimp tank with compatible tank mates that most likely won't disrupt the peace, consider adding rasboras. These tiny, colorful fish are an excellent addition to your shrimp tank. In this post, we’ll introduce you to our top three micro rasboras—the Chili Rasbora, Merah Rasbora, and Exclamation Point Rasbora—highlighting their peaceful nature, vibrant colors, and compatibility with shrimp.

Chili Rasbora (Boraras brigittae)

The Chili Rasbora, also known as the Mosquito Rasbora, is one of the most popular choices among nanofish enthusiasts. Scientifically known asBoraras brigittae, these tiny fish reach a maximum size of about 1 inch, making them ideal for smaller aquariums. They’re sure to stand out in any tank due to their stunning red coloration! Rasbora’s tend to be peaceful making them a perfect addition to any shrimp tank.
