Babaulti shrimp are a diverse group with very little research; however, what we do know is that most of these shrimp come from India. While they’re classified as Caridina, they’re much hardier than typical Caridina and can often adapt to Neocaridina parameters. They display a range of colors—brown, green, yellow, red, and even Sunkist orange—and some have zebra stripes!
For now, we’re going to highlight the Zebra Babaulti and the Green Babaulti.
The Zebra Babaulti are absolutely stunning shrimp. They’re a wild color form, breed easily in freshwater, and are hardy enough to thrive on Neocaridina water parameters. If you want vibrant patterning without finicky care needs, these are a perfect pick.
The care for Green Babaulti shrimp mirrors that of the Zebra variety. Juveniles may start pale, but adults develop rich green hues—often with an overlay of orange. They’re a striking way to liven up any tank.
In conclusion, Babaulti shrimp combine ease of care, adaptability, and eye-catching coloration. Whether you choose the bold stripes of the Zebra or the vivid hues of the Green, these shrimp are sure to be a standout in your aquarium.
