Spotted Kuhli Loaches are one of those fish that are a little weird looking… but in the best way possible. Instead of the classic banded kuhli look, these guys have a more spotted, speckled pattern that makes them feel a little extra unique!
They have that long, eel-like body that Kuhli Loaches are known for, and once they get comfortable, they wiggle all over the tank. Honestly, they are so fun to watch, especially when they start cruising through plants, driftwood, caves, and leaf litter.
Spotted Kuhli Loaches are peaceful bottom dwellers that spend most of their time exploring the substrate, hiding during the day, and coming out more when they feel safe. They are also natural scavengers, so they may help clean up leftover food, but they still need to be fed a proper diet of their own.
Spotted Kuhli Loaches do best in groups of 6 or more. When kept in a group, they feel safer, act more naturally, and you are way more likely to see them out and about.
For the best Spotted Kuhli Loach care, we recommend soft sand substrate, peaceful tank mates, and plenty of hiding spots. Plants, driftwood, caves, smooth rocks, and leaf litter are all great options. Since they like to burrow and dig around, sand is usually better than rough gravel.
