Serpae Tetra Veiltail

Serpae Tetra Veiltail

The Serpae Tetra Veiltail or Hyphessobrycon Serpae var Veiltail are flame colored tropical fish and are extremely popular thanks to their unusual markings, feathery fins and bold body color. Also known as Blood Tetras due to having bright orange
and red scales, Serpae Tetra Veiltail can be distinguished by a black comma-shaped mark on their side and long black and white dorsal fin.

What Are Serpae Tetra Veiltail Like?

Undeniably attractive, the Tetra Veiltail makes a beautiful addition to a community
aquarium with a generally peaceful demeanor. Serpae Tetra are naturally schooling fish and thrive in groups. However, be mindful of pairing it with slow-moving companions as this freshwater Tetra can become mildly aggressive and has been known to occasionally nip its longer-finned tankmates.

Who Is Suited To Serpae Tetra Veiltail?

Great for intermediate and advanced aquarists alike, the Serpae Tetra is easy to care for. These flame-like fish are sensitive to water changes and, therefore not recommended for inexperienced owners or new tanks. In general, they make wonderful pets, living up to 8 years with proper care and maintenance, and are sure to make a statement in your tank.

The Ideal Aquarium Conditions For A Serpae Tetra Veiltail

Often found in still and slow-moving bodies of water in Brazil and Paraguay, Serpae Tetra Veiltail are happiest in decorated aquariums with thick vegetation, with a variety of caves and rocks where they can seek refuge. To mimic their natural habitat, we recommend using moss or Myriophyllum to provide soft shelter and diffuse light along with a dark substrate. Growing up to 4.5 inches, Serpae Tetra require ample space to swim and can grow to 4.5 inches.
