Red Dwarf Rasbora

The Red Dwarf Rasbora (Microrasbora rubescens) is a tiny, colorful schooling fish that can add a ton of movement to a planted freshwater aquarium. Their small size and peaceful personality make them a great option for nano tanks and peaceful community setups.

Red Dwarf Rasboras develop beautiful red coloration with subtle shimmering tones that really stand out against green plants and darker backgrounds. They are active little fish and look their best when kept in a group where they can school and interact naturally.

Despite their small size, these fish can be fairly adaptable once settled in. We recommend keeping them in a well-established aquarium with plenty of plants, cover, and areas where they can feel secure. A planted setup with gentler lighting can also help bring out their coloration while giving them plenty of places to explore.

Red Dwarf Rasbora Care

Because Red Dwarf Rasboras stay small and have a peaceful temperament, they work best with other small, non-aggressive tank mates. Avoid housing them with larger or overly boisterous fish that may intimidate them or outcompete them for food.

Like most small schooling fish, we recommend keeping Red Dwarf Rasboras in a group rather than individually. A larger group can help them feel more comfortable and gives you a much better chance to see their natural schooling behavior.
