“Araguaia” is a river system in Brazil and it is under this name that the plant has become known. There are many signs, however, that the plant is a Hygrophila lancea from Japan and Hong Kong.
The stem becomes 10-20 cm tall and 6-15 cm wide. It has compact, tight-sitting leaves and grows branches easily. Pinching of the stems maintains a bushy look. The colour is reddish brown to purple, promoted by good growth conditions. The growth rate is average for a Hygrophila.
Arrived on a sub-zero day - after being shipped the last day before the holiday shipping break. Well packed, but the heat pack was cold. The susswussertang survived, as did the CPDs and the sparkling gouramis (one of the SGs looked DOA but revived and is fine 2 weeks later). So, no blame here. I didn't bother taking a photo for a refund because this is a busy time of year, and I have been happy to enjoy the other plant and fish for 2 weeks - that otherwise I would still not have. Great company! Sometimes stuff happens.
