Closely resembling the familiar Scarlet Badis species, the Red Badis (Dario hysginon) presents an attractive alternative. The males boast a striking red hue, in contrast to the more subdued appearance of the females. Growing to approximately 2 inches in size, these fish are notably easier to feed compared to the smaller Badis. However, male Red Badis exhibit some territorial behavior towards each other, necessitating careful tank decoration to provide hiding spots and minimize direct lines of sight. Aquatic environments rich in plant life are particularly suitable for this species, which generally displays peaceful behavior. These fish have a timid demeanor and slow movement, making them vulnerable to competition from more active feeders.
