Introducing the Dwarf Gold Honey Gourami, a stunning freshwater fish with a peaceful personality that is perfect for beginner aquarists. Scientifically known as Trichogaster (Colisa) chuna, this fish originates from the streams and rice paddies of Southeast Asia and has gained popularity among fish enthusiasts for its captivating colors and calm demeanor.
With its vibrant color variations, including the wild type, yellow gold, and red, the Dwarf Gold Honey Gourami is a true spectacle in any aquarium. The wild type showcases a beautiful brownish-grey body adorned with intricate stripes, while the yellow gold variety boasts a striking yellow body with eye-catching red markings. For a bold and dramatic appearance, the red variety displays a deep red body complemented by black fin markings. No matter which variety you choose, these fish are bound to bring a burst of color to your aquatic display.
Ensuring the well-being of your Dwarf Gold Honey Gourami is of utmost importance. They thrive in a tank environment with a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5 and a temperature between 72 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. To provide them with ample space to swim and explore, a minimum tank size of 10 gallons is required, although larger tanks are recommended.
One of the standout characteristics of these fish is their peaceful nature. They coexist harmoniously with other peaceful fish species, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere in your aquarium. However, it's essential to avoid housing them with larger or aggressive fish that may intimidate or harm them. Whether kept in pairs or small groups, Dwarf Gold Honey Gourami flourish in a planted aquarium that offers abundant hiding spots, providing them with a sense of security.
Feeding your Dwarf Gold Honey Gourami a well-balanced diet is crucial for their health and happiness. They relish a variety of foods, including flakes, microwafers, and bloodworms. Offering them a mix of these options and incorporating quality pellet foods like NorthFin ensures they receive all the essential nutrients they need. Remember to provide small, frequent meals throughout the day to keep them satisfied.
In summary, the Dwarf Gold Honey Gourami is an exquisite and gentle fish that will elevate the beauty of any freshwater aquarium. With its captivating colors and peaceful disposition, this fish is sure to bring charm and fascination to your aquatic world. My Dwarf Honey Gouramis arrived in perfect condition and are doing great! They are healthy and active and bring me so much joy. Thank you Flip Aquatics.
Absolutely beautiful fish. The Gold Honey that I ordered from Flip was received in excellent health and has such a wonderful temperament. Beautiful light gold color with red fringe along the fins, extremely docile but inquisitive, and a very good eater. Couldn't ask for a better centerpiece for a community nano tank.
My tank is heavily planted with a maze of hardscape and more filtration that is needed for a normal 20G. I have a Red and Gold honey in a 20G with 8 kuhli loaches, 12 CPD, 3 Borneo suckers (two of the smaller, striped variety, and one of the larger, spotted variety), and some amount of rili carbon shrimp. They all get along swimmingly (!) and there's no one 'boss' of the tank.
I've purchased from Flip twice now and have an absolute stellar experience both times. I appreciate the effort that goes into caring and quarantining the fish at Flip's facility, the attention to detail from the shipping/handling team when packing and shipping the fish, and the excellent communication from the customer ops team.
A+++ cannot recommend Flip highly enough. Thanks to the whole team for helping to make my introduction to keeping fish successful!
Arrived in a good condition as always! It’s been a week I put him in 29 gallons tank with other community fish. He has adjusted in the new environment quickly and already showing more colors. He is so cute😊 The pictures are next day of arrival.
Beautiful fish with a gentle personality!
