When a hobbyist is making the transition from Neocaridina to Caridina, the crystal red shrimp is a great option to start with. While crystal red require a lower PH, they can still live in condition that are slightly alkaline (PH above 7).

The grading scale for CRS is somewhat difficult to comprehend at first. Here are the grades in order of highest to lowest: SSS, SS, S, A, B and C. The higher the grade (SSS), the less red the shrimp will have. So, a C grade shrimp will be almost all red while an SSS grade shrimp will be almost completely white. The other way to grade the shrimp is by color and how solid the color is versus being transparent in color. The CRS is an entry level freshwater shrimp for the Caridina genus.

5 Crystal Red Shrimp

Hey guys...

I’m very satisfied with ur speed and delivery but I didn’t not like the size of the shrimp u gave me, they were still young and not full grown adult so I’m afraid after two days of not seeing a single one, my Cory cats might have got to them. I’ve once had over 200 cherry shrimp in this same tank and fish. I decided to give them all away and move onto crystal red but unfortunately... u guys gave me youngins...

Hey Proctor, We are very sorry about you dissatisfaction. We hold the shrimp for 30 days to QT them and to help them grow a bit. We had said CRS for 60-90 before purchasing. Bee shrimp are just sold very small from when we import them. They are also much smaller than Neocaridina generally. We are again sorry for any issues this may have caused! Rob
