Blue Velvet

Blue Velvet Neocaridina shrimp are light blue color in color and were created from Red Rili Neocaridina. These shrimp offer another beautiful blue variation to any Neocaridina tank.

Blue Velvet shrimp when berried carry green colored eggs. They thrive any in general Neocaridina parameters with a pH above 7. Any inert substrate will work in their tank. Providing natural cover and surface area for biofilm to grow on with woods, leaves, and cones will be beneficial for these shrimp and their offspring. Mosses and other live plants should be included in their tank setup. They will eat any shrimp specific manufactured foods, biofilm, and algae.

We keep our Blue Velvets in a tank with a Matten Filter, pool filtered sand, natural woods, and plants. We use RO/DI water remineralized with Salty Shrimp GH/KH+ to a TDS of 150-200. We feed these shrimp Shrimp King and Glasgarten foods as well as Northfin Veggie.

Best in the business

As an LFS, we are accustomed to a certain percentage of loss. I get better survival rates having Flip ship my orders to CA, from Ohio, than I can from anyone local with a much shorter transit time. When Flip Aquatics says they are setting the standard, they truly mean it. These days, if we can't get our shrimp from Flip Aquatics, we just wait!

A perfect experience

I have been working to set up my shrimp tank for quite some time. When everything worked out and shrimp were available I placed my order. I ordered a breeder pack. The shrimp arrived in great condition, I had at least one berried female, they acclaimed well, and a month later they are still well. I have two mothers who I expect will hatch their babies soon. I am not sure if I have had any born yet or not as my tank is heavily planted but the shrimp are healthy. I can hardly wait until next year when I hope to be ready for another type of shrimp. Working with Flip Aquatics was an exceptional experience.

All six blue velvet shrimp arrived in great condition. I love their coloring. Three were berried. The packaging was super and delivery was very fast. I love watching them scurry around. Very happy with my purchase and Flip Aquatics.
