Black Mollies | Standard or Lyretail

Black Mollies are hardy, freshwater fish that make a great addition to community aquariums! Their solid black color really stands out against green aquarium plants, and depending on which variety you choose, they can have either a classic tail or a cool lyre shaped tail. Both varieties are active, easy to care for, and full of personality!

Our Black Molly Fish are available in two tail varieties: the Standard Black Molly and the Black Lyretail Molly. While both have that beautiful dark coloration, some of our Black Lyretail Mollies also develop hints of orange or yellow in their fins. We've been saying they almost look like cooling lava, with little streaks of color against their black bodies! You can choose your preferred tail variety before adding them to your cart.

Like other freshwater mollies, Black Mollies are livebearers, meaning they give birth to live babies instead of laying eggs. They typically grow to around 4-5 inches and do best in groups with more females than males to help reduce stress. They're a great choice for beginner hobbyists and get along well with other peaceful community fish that enjoy similar water conditions.

Black Molly Tail Varieties

• Standard Black Molly: has the classic rounded tail with beautiful solid black coloration.
• Black Lyretail Molly: has an elongated, lyre shaped tail that gives these fish a little extra flair. Some may also have some orange or yellow highlights in their fins.
