Banana Plant

The aquatic banana plant, Nymphoides Aquatica, is a captivating plant that brings both beauty and functionality to any freshwater aquarium. Named for its banana-like tubers that rest at the base, the aquatic banana plant is not only a conversation piece but also highly practical. The aquatic banana plant has vibrant green, lily pad-shaped leaves that grow toward the surface, providing gentle cover and shade for fish, while its roots help anchor this plant securely in substrate. The aquatic banana plant thrives in low to moderate lighting, making this plant a versatile choice for beginners and experienced aquarists alike.

As a hardy species, the aquatic banana plant adapts well to various tank conditions and is relatively low-maintenance. The aquatic banana plant plays a key role in maintaining water quality by absorbing excess nutrients, helping to keep your tank clean and balanced.

How to an Aquatic Banana Plant

The aquatic banana plant should be placed on top of the substrate, rather than planted. It is not good for the tubers to be buried in substrate. Once settled into an aquarium, the aquatic banana plant will begin to grow roots that make their way into the substrate securing the plant in its place.

Don't place with rabbit snails!

Banana plants arrived ok. Looked healthy but no leaves. Acclimated right away and woke up to half eaten by rabbit snail. She was actively munching on the tubers.
