The Knight Goby (also called the Fan Goby) is a medium-sized fish known for its striking patterns. Native to the Indo-Pacific, it lives in estuaries and mangrove swamps, preferring fresh or lightly brackish waters over full saltwater. In home aquariums it adapts well to different conditions but thrives in moderately hard freshwater. These gobies can be somewhat territorial—dominant individuals may chase others—so keeping them in larger groups with plenty of hiding spots helps prevent bullying. Hardy and visually unique, they do best in species-only tanks or with larger fish, as they will likely eat anything small enough to fit in their mouth.
