Dwarf Orange Mexican Crayfish

Dwarf Orange Mexican Crayfish, or Cambarellus patzcuarensis 'orange' (CPO), are native to rivers and streams in Mexico. These small crayfish grow to about 2.5 inches and thrive in tanks of at least 5 gallons. They can be a bit aggressive, so it's best to give them a well-decorated tank with plenty of hiding spots and space to establish their territories. We feed our crayfish a mix of artemia pellets, frozen bloodworms, and other protein-rich foods. They also enjoy soft algae pellets or wafers.

DISCLAIMER: Some states prohibit the import of crayfish. It is the consumer's responsibility to be aware of their state's laws.

Healthy, well priced and good communication

This was my first purchase from Flip. My 7 year old son recently lost his last of two semi-aquatic crabe he had in a 10 gallon in his room. He was devistated. Rather than "replace" them, we elected to transform the tank to fully aquatic. He wanted something with comparable personality, and quickly latched on to the idea of crayfish. Obviously standard freshwater crays get too large for 10 gallon (especially if you want more than one).

Enter the Dwarf Mexican Cray. We found out about these online and couldn't locate any locally. Stumbled on Flip, who had the lowest price on these (with shipping). The night before they were supposed to ship we were browsing the site and say they also had Peacock Gudgeon's (sometimes mistakenly called Goby's). Emailed and asked if there was any chance of adding a pair to our order before shipment the next day. When I got to to work, first thing in the morning, I had an email confirming the possibility and an invoice in my email for the price difference (no change in shipping, either). All four (two Gudgeons, two Crays) showed up on Thursday as promissed.

Nearly two weeks in now, I can say they have survived just fine. The Crayfish are MUCH more personable and entertaining fixture in the tank than the crabs ever were. They are absolutely hilarious at times, and easy to locate, even with ample plants and hiding places. Customer service and communication from Flip was amazing, especially in accomodating our request to add the Gudgeons at the last minute. They are definitely on my shortlist now, amongst 2 or MAYBE 3 other online vendors I trust.

Active and colorful

These Mexican dwarf crayfish stay out in the open for the most part. Flip ships them in individual bags. It would be helpful to be able to buy sexed crayfish.

Haven't been disappointed yet.

I have ordered live stock and dry goods. Live things arrive alive and I have been satisfied with everything.
