Kuhli Loaches are one of those fish that might be a little weird looking at first… but in the best way possible! They have a long, eel or snake like body and they wiggle all over the tank. Honestly so fun to watch once they get comfortable!
These peaceful bottom dwellers spend most of their time exploring the substrate, hiding in plants, and cruising around driftwood or caves. Kuhli loaches are also natural scavengers, so they’ll help clean up leftover food around the aquarium. Just keep in mind, they still need to be fed a good diet of their own!
Kuhli Loaches do best in groups of 6 or more. When they’re kept in a group, they feel safer, act more naturally, and you’re way more likely to see them out and about.
For the best kuhli loach care, we recommend a soft sand substrate as they like to burrow, peaceful tank mates, and plenty of hiding spots. Plants, driftwood, caves, and leaf litter are all great options. Since they like to burrow and dig around, sand is usually a better choice than rough gravel.
With the right setup, Kuhli Loaches can live for years and make such a fun addition to a peaceful community aquarium!
