Lava rock in general is one of the best rocks to use in a shrimp tank. Lava rock is extremely porous which provides tons of surface area to grow biofilm and beneficial bacteria. Lava rock will create natural feeding grounds for shrimp and especially baby shrimp.
Black carved lava rock is ideal for an aquarium because it adds character. The holes add depth to the aquarium and provide natural decoration to include in any aquascape.
Our nano black carved lava rock is around 1 and a 1/2 - 2 inches per piece. These are great pieces for a shrimp tank.
Key Benefits
For best results we recommend rinsing rocks before addition to an aquarium. Although all pieces are cleaned, it is natural for rock to create additional dust during shipping.
You will receive one (1) hand selected piece of carved lava rock. Each piece is inspected and packaged with care to help protect the character of each rock.
*Each piece is different. The stones you receive will not be identical to the product pictures although are accurate examples of what you will receive.*
I put both of the lava rocks in the betta and shrimp tank, and the cholla wood in the shrimp only tank. everything is awesome and as described.
Very small, perfect to blend in any aqua scape
Love the small hole thru the rock for my shrimp. They look great in the tank. Have some Buce glued to one of them. Gonna see how that goes 👍
Received my nano size black carved lava rock and it looks great! Perfect size for a 10 gallon or smaller tank. Lots of surface area on it. Only issue was getting the tag and glue off but otherwise great piece.
Everything is fine being new to this and binge learning as I go. I scrambled got a new 10 gal. bought shrimp fluval stratum, did a landscape that is amazing inspired by G. Farmer, Serpa, MD all the fish nerds. Stressful but fun. I cycle this tank in three days using supplies from other tanks. Made the Vals and the spider wood a center point was up almost two days straight preparing, detailing. All the shrimp are doing very well happy with many viewing and fluffing there eggs. Very fascinating. Thanks
