White Wizard Snails, scientifically known as filopaludina martensi are a fairly uncommon freshwater snail in the hobby, but they’re quickly becoming a favorite! They have bright white shells with a darker tip at the end of it, making them stand out in many tanks!
What makes this snail truly unique is that it can filter feed using its gills, something you don’t see in most aquarium snails! It also grazes on algae, leftover food, and biofilm. White Wizard Snails are livebearers, meaning they give birth to fully developed babies instead of laying eggs. Which makes breeding slow and manageable, so you won’t end up with an overrun tank.
These snails prefer warmer water and do best in stable, established aquariums. They grow larger than many common snails and do well in community tanks with peaceful fish and shrimp.
