Caridina Babaulti 'Green'

Caridina Babaulti is a diverse group of shrimp, but one with very little research. What we do know is that the majority of shrimp within this species come from India, and while they are considered Caridina Shrimp, they are much hardier than a typical Caridina.

While these rare Green Babaulti Shrimp may have little to no coloring as juveniles, they color up nicely as adults. Don't let the name fool you though. While they can be completely green, most of them also have a Sunkist orange coloring layered over the top of their primarily green bodies. Regardless, they are a great way to add a pop of color to your aquarium!

The care for Green Babaulti shrimp is a little more flexible than most Caridina species. They do not require special attention and tend to be accepting of a multitude of water parameters including Neocaridina parameters. Although, we suggest keeping parameters close to what we keep them in:

Our Tank Parameters:

  • Ph: 7.0 to 7.6
  • Gh: 7 to 15
  • Kh:  2 to 8
  • TDS: 150 to 350
  • Temp: 68°F to 72°F

Neat Shrimp

I only have 5 of them, there was 1 DOA but it was the extra they sent. I don't see these little guys around too often. 5 in a well decorated 37 gallon doesn't work very well for visibility. When I do see them, they are super neat to watch. I think they're more like chameleons and have this really cool orange stripe from their nose to their tail along their spine, and almost greenish eyes. I most often see them camouflaged in my moss. They seem to change in brightness depending on their surroundings. Or I'm imagining it lol. Either way, love this little guys.

Update, I spotted one after posting this review. This is the best I could get.
