The Red Wagtail Hi-Fin Swordtail is a hardy and active livebearer. These swordtails have the signature red wag coloration (red body with black tail) along with their swordtail. The unique characteristic is their high fin. These Red Wag swordtails have a long flowing top fin which si very unique and hard to breed for.
Our rag wag high-fin swordtails grow to about 4-6 inches in size. The males are known for their long, black swordtail and tall dorsal fin, which makes them Hi-Fins. While the females have a rounder shape, and lack the distinctive swordtail fins. They show their best colors in a heavily planted aquariums.
Though their not true schooling fish, they are naturally social and do best when kept in groups! To reduce stress and encourage natural behavior, it’s best to keep more females than males, as males can become territorial when competing for mates. We hold each swordtail for at least two weeks before shipping, giving them expert care so they’re healthy and ready for your tank.
Red Wagtail Hi-Fin Swordtails are omnivores. We feed them a mix of frozen, live, and prepared foods, including live baby brine and daphnia. We also supplement their diet with a mix of Northfin Veggie, Community, and Bug Pro.
