Bucephalandra Kedekang | Tissue Culture

Rendering loop-subscriptions

Bucephalandra is a relatively new rare plant into the hobby. Don't let that scare you, they are quite easy to grow. Bucephalandra is mostly from South East Asia and is actually in danger of being wiped out due to deforestation on the islands it is found on. Luckily, with Bucephalandra's popularity gaining in the aquarium hobby, it will live on in our tanks. Bucephalandra is a truly beautiful plant that has subtle differences to leaf shape, coloration, and size. Bucephalandra Kedekang can be grown in both in aquariums and paludraiums. There are hundreds of Buce varieties that exist, and new ones are being discovered every day. This plant grows similar to Anubias, as it grows along a rhizome, and sends off leaves from it. It does best when tied or glued to rocks or driftwood, and should not be planted in the substrate.

Bucephalandra is an extremely slow grower and takes up too 2 years to fully convert in their "submerged" form. As the plant matures in your aquarium, the new leaves will become more delicate and have a more intense color to them. To propagate it, just trim a portion of the rhizome with leaves off and place somewhere else.
