You will receive orange eyed blue tiger shrimp can range in color. The shrimp can contain solid blue, light blue or blonde color in addition to orange eyes. The shrimp will be healthy and near breeding age.
The orange eyed blue tiger shrimp (OEBT) is a fairly common shrimp in the hobby. Due to the beautiful coloration it can hold, there are many breeders in the US that breed OEBT’s. The appearance of the shrimp is that of a standard tiger shrimp but also having orange eyes and a blue hue. The greatest set back with OEBT’s is that they do not breed true. Often times, they will breed blonde colored shrimp appose to a nice blue color. Since OEBT’s produce blonde shrimp, a colony requires culling (the removal of unwanted shrimp) to be done in order to maintain a high percentage of blue babies.
Despite the success Flip Aquatics has had breeding the tiger shrimp species; orange eyed blue tigers have proven to be stubborn shrimp. Our colony of OEBT’s has only produced one generation in 2015. They have taken a long time to adjust to the water parameters we use for tiger shrimp. We are confident that now that we have gotten them to breed in our water, they will be much more willing to breed for our customers.
