You will receive blue Taiwan bees from our regular-grade blue bolt tank or blue Taiwan bees that will be mostly blue from our mid-grade blue bolt tank. A regular-grade blue bolt generally entails that the head of the shrimp will be mostly blue, with the remainder of the body and tail being mostly white with some light blue coloration. The opposite is true for our mostly blue-blue bolts. This contrasting blue and white color makes them a great addition to any aquarium especially those with plants. The blue bolts will be sold at approximately half an inch in size. The smaller the shrimp are the easier they are to acclimate to your aquarium. The shrimp should be breeding size within about a month after receiving them.
The blue bolts that we sell all have great coloration and have varying levels of blue and white. In the past, Taiwan Bees were considered some of the hardest to keep and breed pet shrimp. Between 2009 and 2014, hobbyists stabilized the Taiwan bee shrimp line giving it more stability in the aquarium. This was achieved by adding in new genetic pools making the Taiwan bee shrimp much easier to keep and breed. For a hobbyist ready to take their hobby to the next level, these shrimp are a great place to start.
Mixing Taiwan Bees
It is great to be aware of the fact that all Taiwan Bee shrimp can be kept in the same tank without out risk of hybridizing. All Taiwan Bee shrimp share similar genetic lines so they will produce shrimp that look similar to the parents. Red King Kongs, Red Pandas, Black King King Kongs, Black Pandas, and Blue Bolts can all be kept in the same aquarium.
