The Green Tiger Barb is a small fish with shiny green bodies marked by dark stripes like a tiger’s, with bright orange fins. They grow up to about 3 inches long and love to dart around in schools, which makes them fun to watch. Because they can be a bit nippy with fish that have long fins, it’s best to keep them with other active, sturdy tank mates or in a species only group so everyone stays happy.
These barbs do best in a medium to large tank filled with live plants and open spaces for swimming. They prefer soft, slightly acidic water that moves gently, which you can create with a low-flow filter. A group of at least 6 helps them feel secure and lets you see their natural schooling behavior. Add some smooth rocks or driftwood for hiding spots, and keep the tank brightly lit to bring out their colors. With regular water changes and a stable temperature around 75–80°F, your Green Tiger Barbs will thrive and show off their best colors.
