Hygrophila Compacta is in the family of some of the fastest growing aquarium plants, however it tends to stay short with wide leaves. Hygrophila Compacta as has wider leaves then the typical Hygrophila Siamensis 53b variant. Hygrophila Compacta's leaves will sometimes turn a dark brownish-red or yellow under bright light. To propagate Hygrophila Compacta just cut the stem in half horizontally and replant the portion you cut off.
Care Level: Easy
Lighting Requirement: Low
Co2: Not needed
Growth Rate: Fast
Origin: Asia
Tank Placement: Midground
Tank Size:Hygrophila Compacta is good plant for tanks of 10 gallons or more typically as the leaves have a large spread.
Super healthy and lush. Sat in a bucket for 3 days before planting. Not a single snail!
I bought two pots of this plant with a bunch of others for my new 75g tank. All plants arrived in great condition but now that the tank has been planted for 2 weeks one of the Hygrophila Corymbosa Compacta has completely withered away. I expected some melt back as the plant adjusted to the tank which did happen but the thriving plant has already started getting taller and making lots of new leaves while the other is is still melting back. I’m still hoping the plant will bounce back but it’s not looking good.

We received our order today (Wednesday) after our order was shipped out on Monday. Super awesome that the timeline was only a couple of days until everything got to us! That being said, it was really disappointing taking this plant out of the waterless, plastic package it was in, only to have half the leaves fall off the plant. Super disappointing, out of all the plants in our order this was the one I was most excited for. Really it looks nothing like the photos, and I am left with a sad-looking stem. I hope it perks up soon and does not die the rest of the way. Also did not receive the 'potted; selection chosen, it seems more like a portion as it is lacking said pot.
When plant was shipped out to me, the stems were very minimal with little to no leaves. I put it in my tank with the adequate nutrients in order to revive it but in the past few days, the roots started turning black and the stems began to turn into mush (they would bend like paper). I for sure know there isn’t anything wrong with my water parameters, as my older hygrophilia corymbosa is thriving.
