Picta Swamp Guppy | Wild Type

The Red Swamp Guppy, also known as the Picta Guppy, is one of the smallest and most vibrant guppy varieties available—maxing out at just 3cm. This petite livebearer features bold red coloration that pops in planted tanks and adds movement with its energetic swimming. Its small size makes it a great choice for nano tanks or peaceful community setups.

Easy to care for and beginner-friendly, the Red Swamp Guppy thrives on a varied diet of flake food, frozen or live foods, and blanched veggies. Their peaceful temperament and hardy nature make them a low-maintenance addition to any freshwater setup. Given the right conditions, they also breed readily, offering hobbyists the joy of raising new generations.

Red Swamp Guppy | Micropoecilia Picta

Love these cute, small livebearers

Ordered 3 pair. 1 male was DOA. Flip aquatics quickly replaced. Then lost another male, unsure why. So now 2 males and 3 females. Have in a planted tank (val and java fern) and with a sponge on power head. Added 1 tbs salt per 5 gallons as I read they like a little salt. Found 2 fry yesterday that I promptly put in a breeder net as they will eat fry from my research. So happy with these little fish. They are so energetic.

I bought 2, 1 male and 1 female, the female is fine but the male didn't make it sadly, It had good quality shipping though.

Red Swamp Guppy | Micropoecilia Picta

Beautiful and mostly healthy fish. Two came with bacterial or fungal infections which I am treating. One male is very sucked in and more than likely won't make it. Overall a pretty common experience with livebearers. I would order again. Flip has done better in comparison to my last experience!

Update*

Turns out callamanus red worms have run rampant through my tank. Flip should take more caution when importing livebearers. I am now over $1k down in breeding stock at the time of this review. The last fish in 6 months I've added to my breeding set up are the "picta" red swamp guppies and the smoky endlers. And within 2 weeks have seen a massive explosion in illness and death.
