Shrimp King: Shrimp Mineral GH/KH+ is the ideal re-mineralizer for all Neocaridina shrimp and even some Caridina shrimp. Shrimp mineral is used when utilizing reverse osmosis water or distilled water in aquariums.
If you plan to use RO/DI (Reverse Osmosis/De-Ionization), distilled or some other form of pure water, it is almost always essential to use some form of remineralizer. The reason for this is because most forms of pure water are lacking in trace elements and minerals that are necessary to support life in the aquarium. By using a form of remineralizer, you add back in these trace elements and minerals needed to have a successful tank. But why use pure water in the first place? Simple, it is full proof. In the past, we have experienced a multitude of problem due to bacteria in city water, fluctuations in water chemistry and hardness of well water. By using pure water, it takes the guess work out of it and you will know that things will remain consistent.
Shrimp Mineral GH/KH+ has a few benefits that make it a great remineralizer. The biggest benefit is consistency. With many liquid remineralizers, people find that every bottle will vary slightly. Shrimp King Shrimp Mineral is in powder form which makes it exactly the same every time. So once a person figures out his or her dosage, it’ll always be the same unless other factors come into play (evaporation or such). The next benefit is that it is cost effective. Being that it is in powdered form, you are not paying to have it mixed with liquid prior to getting it. Thus, the cost is less and you’ll find your money going a lot farther. The one and only drawback to Shrimp Mineral, is just what we talked about: mixing it into water. Often times it will take an hour or two to fully dissolve completely. We usually let our water sit over night before adding it into the aquarium. Although, we have done water changes directly after mixing water without ill effects. If you have the time to wait, it is recommending.
Shrimp King: Shrimp Mineral GH/KH+ is specifically designed for shrimp that prefer a ph around 7.0. These shrimp include cherry shrimp, most tiger shrimp and all other Neocardina. Shrimp Mineral GH/KH+ will increase carbonate hardness (KH) and general hardness (GH) making it easier to achieve a ph around 7.0. Since carbonate hardness controls the stability of ph in an aquarium, we prefer this re-mineralizer for all of our tiger and Neocardina tanks.
Everything in my order arrived as expected - both dry goods and plants were in excellent condition (Thanks, Amanda!). Following the recommend TDS (ppm) from Flip for neocaridina, my shrimp and shrimplets are thriving! Note that the TDS doesn't correlate to the conductivity (microsiemens) noted on the packaging (my pen measures TDS, conductivity, and temp). The conductivity ends up higher than what's written on the package, but the shrimp are all eating, active, and molting well. So thankful for the support, guidance, and patience in addition to high quality goods!
This product works great for remineralizing RO/DI water for neo shrimp tanks. I also have ammonia in my water so I am able to use this to remineralize water for water changes in a quarantine tank.I'd recommend it.
