The neon tetra is one of the aquarium hobbies most popular schooling fish. This is due to there striking blue and red color that stands out great in any aquarium. They are a stunning addition to aquariums because of their high contrast against planted tanks and dark substrates. We recommend them to anyone that wants an easy to care for and beautiful fish. They prefer to be kept in schools of 5 or more in order to make them feel the most comfortable.
The Neon Tetra originally came from the streams of South America. To replicate their natural habitat, the use of rock work, plants, and driftwood should be included in the aquarium. We would not recommend keeping this fish with shrimp colonies due to the likeliness of the neon tetra eating baby shrimp and potentially picking at adult shrimp.
The scientific name for the neon tetra is: Paracheirodon innesi
We feed our Neons a mix of frozen foods including daphnia, baby brine, cyclops, and Bloodworms.
Our Tank Parameters
My son's school had a reading project and they were coming up to a chapter that referenced neon tetras. I maintain the school fish tank, and I was asked if we could get neon tetras in there on the day when the students got to that chapter. I didn't have a lot of time to work with, but I explained the situation to the folks here at Flip and they were incredibly helpful. They got me healthy fish quickly and in time to add to the tank. The students love them...I had a few of them tell me the neons are their favorite fish in the tank.
Thanks to everyone at Flip who went above and beyond expectations for a customer. Keep up the great work.
My entire tank is full of nothing but Flip Aquatic fish!! I have never had a single fish die. Absolutely love Flip Aquatics. 40 gallon long you can’t see the fish in the one pic but they are there lol I only buy Flip Aquatics enough said :)
Really satisfied with my purchase, customer service response was timely when I had a confusion on my order. Livestock came packaged neatly and they are thriving in the planted tanks. First time buying from Flip Aquatics, will be buying again.
This was my first time ordering fish to be shipped to me. I ordered 5 and was given an extra one. They all arrived alive and are the cutest little things! They immediately began schooling with my neon I already had, and they are so much fun to watch!
Doing very well, my tds was much higher than yours. I spent 3 hours drip acclimating them and the rasboras. Very happy with my purchase, and the daphnia have made a comeback 😊
